In fact, one of the C&P examiners mentioned how well written his Nexus and DBQ were. If he can help you he will. If he can’t then he will let you know. He cares! Joe Grubbs4 days agoI cannot recommend David Protaziuk, FNP-C, enough. His thoroughness, attention to detail, and dedication to documenting my medical needs made a tremendous difference in my VA Aid and Attendance claim. My claim was not an easy one. The VA mental health examiner provided a negative opinion regarding my need for Aid and Attendance. However, David took the time to thoroughly evaluate my situation and document the specific functional limitations I experience because of my service-connected mental health condition. He completed the necessary medical documentation and provided a detailed, well-supported medical opinion that addressed my actual day-to-day needs. When the VA reviewed my claim, it specifically acknowledged that David’s independent medical opinion was consistent with my VA Form 21-2680 and supported the evidence showing my need for assistance with personal care, medication management, and essential daily activities. The VA also explained that it gave reduced weight to the negative VA examination statement because it did not adequately address those documented limitations. Ultimately, the VA granted my Special Monthly Compensation based on Aid and Attendance, effective August 3, 2026. I truly believe David’s thoroughness and the care he put into documenting my situation were instrumental in helping the VA understand the reality of what I deal with every day. What I learned after consultations with a couple is that they want you to use questionable ethics to achieve your desired result. David is the opposite. He gives you a 100% honest assessment based on the medical records you provide, he doesn't embellish anything to get you more disability, and doesn't take any payment until he knows if he can help you or not. He will do his due diligence and make sure you understand why the VBA makes decisions around your health and what can be done about it. He also helps you understand the forms so that you are going in blind. I am going to recommend him to my other vet friends too. Having your record accurately reflect what you go through daily helps stop providers from assuming or putting you in a box. I have found that some VA providers will solely rely on the VBA’s diagnosis (especially if it’s inaccurate) and provide subpar care. J Maj32 days agoThe VA had always denied the claims that I had submitted to have my disability rating increased. Despite both my military medical records and civilian medical records, my claims were denied. It angered me when my own civilian doctors told me that they wouldn't consider writing me a NEXUS letter because the VA intimidated them. Veteran Medical Opinions wrote a detailed NEXUS letter on my behalf. 2 months later, and another 3rd party medical exam, the VA approved an increase to my disability rating. I have no doubt that the NEXUS letter played a big part in that. I would use their services again and recommend them.Posted on Google

I reached out for an independent medical opinion for my VA disability claim for Irritable Bowel Syndrome after receiving multiple unfavorable decisions. David’s medical opinion was extremely thorough. He reviewed my VA records, prior C&P examinations, GI treatment records, diagnostic testing, and previous negative medical opinions. What stood out most was that he didn’t simply provide a favorable conclusion—he explained the medical reasoning, cited relevant medical literature, addressed the relationship between IBS and my service-connected mental health condition, and directly discussed problems and inconsistencies in the prior VA opinions. His report also picked up on an important statement from a previous VA examiner indicating that anxiety and depression were more likely related to my IBS. That detail became very important in the continued development of my claim. After submitting the opinion, VA ordered another medical review, and my IBS was ultimately granted as secondary to my service-connected Major Depressive Disorder with a 30% evaluation. ukelele kid56 days agoI have spent 3 years stuck in VA Denial Hell. My VSO alluded to my need to get a "Nexus Letter" to overcome the VA Denial Letter; but, I had no idea how to go about doing that. I have seen both Active Duty Medical Doctors and civilian medical professionals. Everyone has been focused on my "Care", not the "Nexus" between my Active Duty injury and the symptoms that necessitated "Care". I have FINALLY found someone who actually understands that I need "Nexus", as I am already receiving "Care". Time will tell if the VA corrects the errors that led to my inappropriate Denial Letter; however, given the quality of the Nexus Letter I have received, I have high confidence that there can be no other logical outcome once the VA reviews my appeal. Whatever the outcome, I am thoroughly satisfied with the work performed by David Protaziuk, as well as the communication between he and I. He is a credit to the medical profession and provides a vital service to those of us who are American Military Veterans! UPDATE: I submitted my Nexus Letter to the VA on 6-15-26. From the very beginning, I was impressed with the amount of time he spent reviewing my records and learning about my military service before ever putting pen to paper. What impressed me most was that he didn’t produce a generic, boilerplate nexus letter. Instead, he wrote my story. Turn around time from first contact to receiving my DBQ and an addendum and NEXUS Letter was around 36 to 40 hours. My Medical condition caused by my Vietnam Service caused me to be hospitalized twice, numerous specialist appointments and tests. David put it all together in a fashion with all the coding, medical language, reasoning, medical opinions, medical facts that left me in awe! I’ll be filing my new claim with my Veteran’s Service Officer in the very near future and having filed claims in the past, I foresee no problems in this claim being approved. Buck Feist104 days agoDavid is a rock star—far superior to any of the dozen or so companies I’ve considered over the past five years A rock-solid nexus opinion is absolutely vital to a successful claim. You need three pillars to support a service-connected condition. 1. Diagnosed ongoing disability 2. An in-service event 3. A nexus linking the event to your disability The nexus is often the most challenging part. Paying for an ‘opinion’ from one of the many shady nexus letter mills is worse than no letter at all. I have considered a dozen nexus providers over the past five years. I rejected all but one —an Ivy League MD specializing in my condition I tried David entirely on a whim, and was blown away — He’s so superior to the others, it’s like pitting an NFL team against an average high school football team.. David responded within hours— HE responded, not an autoform or cheerful but clueless assistant. Also, he requested precisely what’s needed to develop an opinion— no more, no less. You learn this recognize this sorta thing after a few years The next part blew me away — of the dozen or so nexus providers I’ve considered, what floored me about David IS HE HAD CLEARLY READ AND ANALYZED MY CLAIM BEFORE I PAID HIM A DIME. My conditions are genuine, and the result of my military service. I wanted a qualified medical professional to critically examine the evidence and give an honest assessment. I’d prefer a doc decline my case, than fabricate to a favorable opinion because I paid him off. David cares, and he knows what he is doing. He thoroughly reviewed my records within 48 hrs, and developed a sound, supportable nexus opinion, considering in advance counter-arguments. I am paying dearly for an Ivy League MD w impressive credentials to develop a nexus letter for a related condition. The letter will be done on Monday. During the process I have never engaged w the doctor personally, had the opportunity to preview their draft opinion, or been allowed any input during the process. So for $2k, I got an impressive provider, but I just gotta keep my fingers crossed the nexus letter does what I hope. David was so much better — he’s worked w VA, and has an intimate understanding of the importance of a nexus opinion, as well as exactly what rating officials need for a positive outcome. With other nexus providers, you get long questionnaires and about 10 minutes w someone to discuss your service-related conditions — rarely the actual doc. David engaged with me throughout the entire process. He took the time to thoroughly understand my conditions, examine every possible cause, then wrote an honest, fact-based statement using VA’s governing laws & regulations to support and defend my case. Then, he explained it to me thoroughly to ensure it met my needs and expectations. What’s funny, is my experience w David vs the incredibly qualified & expensive Ivy League MD, pretty much mirrors my experience getting actual medical care over the years. An experienced, competent NP or PA is usually a far better practitioner to work with than the actual MDs. Developing your own VA claims grinds you down, and saps you both emotionally & spiritually. I was reaching my limit— I almost gave up. David was a ray of light and hope in a claims process that is primarily conducted behind closed doors, shutting us out. He’s personable, incredibly qualified, but with none of the dismissiveness that so often accompanies the practitioners we deal with through the claims process. Derelle Young113 days agoI believe God was really looking out for me on the day that David popped up on my email or Facebook page I don't remember exactly how I got his information, but I remember searching Va claims and he appeared like a bright light. After several days of communicating extensively David and I formed a very good open conversation about how file my claims and what I should file to have the strongest chance to get approved. David looked at my records and studied my medical charts from the VA and my private Doctors and gave me some good advice. I had a claim that I wanted to file but after speaking with David and he gave me his rationale. He told me it could be an uphill battle to get it approved. I decided not to file. I began to focus on my stronger clams which turned out to be a much better choice. I needed a DBQ to support my claim, because the VA set me up twice to have one done but instead just did an Acceptable Medical Evidence (ACE) review. The DBQ I received is extremely well written, thorough, consistent with the evidence I sent, and professional. From the start, they clearly understood the issue with my denial—specifically that the original 21-2680 did not properly reflect my functional limitations using the type of language the VA requires. They didn’t just offer a generic opinion; they took the time to review my denial letter, prior medical form, and supporting statements, and tailored the IMO directly to address those deficiencies. The final report was thorough, well-organized, and most importantly, clearly explained how my service-connected conditions impact my ability to perform activities of daily living. It specifically addressed things like bathing, dressing, hygiene, supervision for safety, and my inability to function independently on a consistent basis—exactly what the VA looks for in Aid & Attendance claims. Amber Rose169 days agoI highly recommend at last speaking to NP David Protaziuk about your situation. I have pleaded my case with the VA since 2011. I had to call OIG in 2012. Years of an ongoing mess. No matter how many times I've explained my health, it seemed nobody understood. Within a night of sharing my kept medical records, he understood my health concerns, diagnosis and prognosis. It is an 8 page letter of irrefutable medical literature, along with a very strong opinion. I will be resubmiting for the 6th time with this letter.
